"After graduating from Stanford University with a degree in International Relations in 1966, Bart Winfield spent 2 years in Vietnam commanding a PBR. In 1970, he left the Navy and joined the Central Intelligence Agency's Directorate of Operations, where he served in Cambodia and Laos advising indigenous troops, and was twice awarded the Intelligence Star in connection with still classified events.

After the Vietnam drawdown, Bart was posted to numerous European countries as both a legal and illegal agent, where he earned the nickname "The Tiger" (as in "a tiger in bed") for his skill in seducing ladies who could provide intelligence information (hence the tattoos on his fore-arms). The end of his operational career came in 1988 in East Berlin, where he was injured in a car crash while trying to extract one of his agents, resulting in his fifth Intelligence Star.

Subsequently detailed as a Security & Protective Officer within the Directorate of Administration, Bart took an early retirement in 1991 at the age of 46 during the euphoria following the break-up of the Soviet Union. Not content to sit around and draw his pension, Bart founded Winfield Security Consultants, which soon became a leader in the corporate/governmental security industry due to his close contacts within the CIA and foreign governments. In 2002, WSC sub-contracted to Dyn-Corp to provide Close Protection, Counter-terrorism, and Intelligence Gathering & Analysis training to the provision government of Afghanistan.

A fitness fanatic, here we see 59 year-old Bart as he prepares to accompany some of his recent trainees on a raid of suspected terrorist sites in Kabul."
