A GERMAN SOLDIER RECALLS, PART 1
"NO TIME FOR PRISONERS"

By: Chris

I couldn't believe what I had done. I would never forget that day. Quickly the Lieutenant called me. "Wolf, Zigarette?"

Ja bitte.

Danke. ( I had a slight tear in my eye)

The man laid there for a few minutes until Hans finished his cigarette. He then went around to bury him. I guess so no one would find the body.

It took him about 15 minutes to finish. Once he was done he lit up another cigarette and just stood there. I think Hans didn't care too much about what had happened. I am not sure... maybe he did.

Later that day the Lieutenant said we had no time for prisoners. I didn't believe him.

The End.

Very poignant story here Chris. Some really great photos to go along with it as well. You've done an absolutely terrific job all the way around trooper. Special thanks for sending this great photo set in and sharing it with us. -- GL
