This is" Pure Hell " The body needs about one more sanding and it will be ready for paint. The Body is Cardboard covered in "Duraglas" and then skim coated in "Bondo" It has taken a lot of sanding to get to this point but its shaping up nicely. The hardest part was the Coves in each body side. I'm still not sure they look right but they are close enough. Another point of intrest is the grill shell. A Machinist friend of mine milled it out of some scrap aluminum for me. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Pretty much everything needs final finishing and paint. but it was good enough for "Best almost finished model" at the local IPMS Model show! My old yellow Top Fuel "Powerade" car won 1ST place in Scratch built car and the old '57 took 3RD in 1/20th or larger models. All in all a good show. I hope to get "Pure Hell" painted before winter if my homework allows it so stay tuned........ |
