This is my first attempt at a fixed base diorama. I was going for a Ranger
SAW gunner in the field. He has entrenched himself by a tree base and is
now keeping sharp watch.
The trees are branches I cut and screwed to the wooden base. The terrain is triple expanding foam that I shaped to look hill like. Then I stuck grass in it as it started to dry and gave it a short spray of earth tone paints. The dirt on the ground is real dirt. I spread tacky glue onto the base and sprinkled the dirt onto it. Works well and it can't look anymore realistic. The mud on the boots is made from dirt too. I added tacky glue to the dirt and stirred until I had a muddy compound. Then I spread it on his boots. I couldn't find an ammo pouch for the SAW, so I sewed one. I tried to emulate SilentDEATH's! photo techniques when I was taking the picture. I don't quite have it down yet. More practice! -- Koso |
Very very sharp work here without a doubt Koso! You've done one heck of a job all the way around. Your base is a brilliant piece of work and the Ranger is just too cool. Inspired work here for sure. Special thanks for sending this totally cool project in and sharing it with us. -- GL |
