April 28, 1945.
The German defenders of Berlin are falling back to the final defensive
positions in the city center. The Red Army is within sight of its final
objective, the Reichstag. The defenders have taken up positions within the
govenment buildings and many are determined to fight to the death. One of
the units holding the "Zitadelle" sector is the 'Danmark" regiment of the
"Nordland" Panzergrenadier division. The division is made up primarily of
foreigners, such as Swedes, Norwegians, Latvians, Belgians, and attached
French, Spanish, and British personnel. These men, now considered traitors
in their home countries, have nothing to lose.
