DEC. 30TH, 1944
JUST 10 MILES NORTH OF BASTOGNE

By: Sgt. Howard

Scouting for First Division, Sgt. Howard notices the glint of binocluars from a dark area of a hill to his right- straining his eyes without turning his face, he tells the gunner to load a HE round as there is an FO sniffing at them. As soon as the round is locked, he gives the order,"BUTTON UP!".

The tank stops and turns the turret- the hapless observers had not allowed themselves sufficient egress to escape in a hurry. The round strikes- and gouges the hillside, leaving splatters of dirt and timber... and blood. Sgt. Howard counts five minuets to see if there is any incoming... but there is only silence. Turret squared, the M-5 rumbles on as hatches again open and the crew braves the miserable weather to gain a better view as they pick their way to Bastogne... at least there is ONE more battery left blind- better chances for those who follow...

..whatcha think? Told you I could make it to Bastogne... here's the last thing the Jerrys saw...
