THE OFFICIAL BEGINNING OF MARWENCOL

. . . sweat dripped off of Hogancamp's nose, as he and his mechanics worked on his 'constantly' broken down P40 in the hot afternoon sun of May 1942. The Nazi Luftwaffe had been reeking havoc all over the European skies, shooting down every Allied aircraft that they met. Reginald Cavandish was an Ace, who piloted a Mk 1/2 Spitfire in the skies over Belgium : and he was always bustin' my chops about my plane being broken a lot of times. I loved my 'ol clunker of a P40 :)

The P40 was fixed ! and Cpt. Hogancamp suited-up and then ran out of the barracks and into his plane. This time he thought, "I'm gonna' prove that Limey wrong and bag me a Nazi plane, so I can have at least ONE tally-kill symbol on the side of my fuselage !"

I hit the contact switch. . . and nothing ! Brian ran up to my side and fiddled with something like wires, jumped off of the plane, and clasped his hands together as if to pray for a miracle or something. The 'ol Rolls Royce-Merlin engine sputtered and then came to life, and I was off. . . .
