James DeSimone 6x6
By: Vtkljnky

I purchased a JD 6 x 6 and spent the weekend getting it to this. I removed all excess plastic and added a 3/4" boxed tube aluminum frame. The risers are 1/2" U channel as supports. I ran the frame past the front and mounted the winch onto that, it made for a more sturdy attachment. I fabricated the grill guard from brass rod and flat stock then soldered together. I used 1/4" aluminum rod for the canvas supports and an old tent half as the cover. Lastly I reworked the pioneer mount that comes with the kit added a set of tools and mounted them using brass stock and screws. I still need to add a floor pan and the bed rails, and rework the driver and passenger seats so the seat height is more accurate. All said this was a lot of fun and worth the cost to purchase. Enjoy.

I haven't seen one of these before old buddy. It's a really cool looking vehicle. You've done some great work on it, that's for sure. Another cool vehicle I wouldn't mind having in my own motor pool. Special thanks for sending these cool shots of it in and sharing it with us. - GL
