MEMOIR - A CIA'S DIARY
By: Exodious

Memoir:
(working on a laptop with only a small lamp in their operation post)

A team of us were dispatched into Afghanistan in mid September 2001. We set up a command post in a secure location for our operations. We go on 2-4 hour watches while the rest sleep (or try). We recon for 2 days logging troop movement, vehicle placement, compounds, camps, buildings, labs, and cave entrances. The hardest part is gaining the trust of the Northern Alliance - a dedicated force of fighters.

We are dressed as the people of Afghan - so we can blend in to lesson our compromise. This land has witnessed many years of war, torture, lost souls, a barron mess of rubble. The people move about, knowing what's to come in the weeks, months and years to come. We will gain the trust of the people and begin to dismantle the Taliban and Al Qaeda with the aid of the Northern Alliance. The Russians have failed here, will we? A question none of us begin to ask one another.

I believe we, Americans were also tested on 9-11 and we held strong to our faith, faith in one another and to our country. We will thru out this campaign be tested again & again but our determination to do what so many have done before; fight and protect America and it's freedom. I am here for just that.

Outstanding stuff Exodious. Thank you my friend. - GL
