D-DAY PLUS 1
By: Silent Sniper

As part of the recent contest, I decided to depict a 101st AB trooper resting and cleaning his rifle the day after the big jump. This diorama was actually pretty easy to make. All you need is: a flat board, insulation foam, spackle, and paint (I used 2 different shades of gray, but if you wanted to you could use something else.) All you do is cut the foam into whatever shape you want, glue it to the board, and you're ready to spackle. I chose to spackle both the wall and the ground. After applying the spackle, I placed the little stones that you see behind the soldier in the spackle so that when it dried it would remain in place. After the spackle dried, I painted the entire thing with 2 different shades of gray. When that dried, I applied the "burns" on the wall with a match by simply holding it up the the wall until I got the desired effect. After all this was done I applied some model train "dirt" to the ground, a few more of those little stones to the ground, and then I was ready to set up the diorama with all of the troopers gear.

I used the 21st Century 101st Para uni, one of the first issue, darker ones. I used a white charcoal artist pencil to add the streaks seen on the reinforced knees. Also added a DML belt and DML suspenders to the pants. Add the final adjustment was adding the breast pockets onto the sleeves.

Notice the chain on the canteen, and the "coffee" in the soldiers cup.

A pic of those nice Newline boots.
