US MARINES AT NORMANDY
By: Zman

On June 6 the Marine detachment serving aboard the U.S.S Texas were battle dresses and standing by to go ashore if needed on the Normandy beaches. It was the 84 man detachment ready to go help the Rangers at Point. Also during the June 6th Normandy invasion, Marines renowed as expert rifleman played a vital role, reminiscent of the days of the sailing Navy when sharpshooters were sent to the fighting ships tops.Stationed high in the superstructures of the invasion fleet, marine rifleman exploded floating mines in the path of the ships moving across the chanel to the beaches of Normandy. Other duties of the Marines were to guard German P.O.Ws captured at the beaches.

Once again, very cool stuff here my friend! I really liked the diorama accessories you made like the tower and the ship walls. Of course all the troops look really sharp as well. More great stuff from you buddy without a doubt. Special thanks for sending it in and sharing it with us. - GL
