THE RIPPER
By: Joe Bennett

When I received my Sideshow "London After Midnight" figure, I thought that, from the back, he looked like Jack the Ripper might have. That started me thinking about doing a diorama. I had done some plastic model kit-bashing when I was a teenager and had a small HO scale railroad as a young man.

I removed the "bat wings" from the figure's coat, cut his hair shorter, and added some black socks to cover his bare ankles that were showing. His Doctor's bag come from Barbie and he has a Sideshow "Custer" knife. The victim is an Ultimate Soldier WACC. I kept her stockings and added female short boots from the Old Joe Infirmary and the clothes from Barbie's "My Fair Lady--Flower Girl".

Believe it or not, the scenery is made from regular brown cardboard box! My original intent was to just use the cardboard to make a rough idea of what I wanted, so I could see what it might look like. The more I worked on it, the better it began to look. I painted the cardboard with water-based craft paints, and drew the bricks in with a soft pencil, using a ruler. The posters I got from the internet and printed them on a color printer. The "Mitre Square" sign also came from the internet, but I changed the street name using a font from Microsoft "Word", then printed it on the printer. The sewer pipe is regular brass tubing from a hobby store painted gloss black. I want to add a couple more posters and maybe do a little more "fine tuning".
