HALO PILOT
By: HotLZ

This is my contest entry for the recent WOH get-together, although I was playing around with uni sets and changed from desert 3 color theme to the 21st C tiger stripe, uni set. I had the idea for this last year when the vehicle contest was getting started. I was thinking that parachute as vehicle might be a cool idea. BTW, the canopy is from the 21st C Halo Pilot set. Unfortunately, it didn't gel until right before the WOH convention.

As I mentioned, the canopy and uni set are 21st C. I rigged the shroud lines to the risers with thin drapery cord, HAND sewn to the canopy. By far, the lines are the trickiest to handle because of the thin nylon material of the canopy. The base is a standard, plywood base from the local hobby store, that was blotch painted to look like a DZ.

The cells of the canopy are held open with large diameter, clear plastic, water bottles that were cut down. The support is a piece of aluminum from the local hardware store. Attached to the top of the support are three small diameter steel rods that are bent and attached making the whole thing look like a bent up pitch-fork. Each of the rods runs along the inside seems of the lower canopy. It is a real bear getting them thru all the shroud lines. Still haven't figured that part out. I keep snagging and breaking off a line. Still working on that.

I had some great response on this guy. Hope you all enjoy.
