TUS JAPANESE RIFLE PROJECT
By: BC Ries

Sand the area around the takedown joint and get it nice and smooth also sand down ant misalignments you may have.

Apply a modelers putty to cover any remnants of the takedown joint sand it smooth.

Look over your work so far, take a break

TUS made the bolt handle way too short (most likely so that children who get this set won't break it off the first time they play with it.) To get it to a proper length cut off the old bolt handle and use a 1/16" drill and drill a small hole where the old bolt handle went. Use a short piece of styrene rod with either a piece or brass rod or some small bead with a 1/16" hole in the middle to make a new bolt handle and glue it into the hole.

Paint your rifle I use acrylics do whatever method you prefer. After this I made some sling swivels from wire and added a custom sling I made. That's it, project is finished.

Here is my Carbine in the hands of a Japanese soldier. I plan to issue these carbines to the ammo bearers of my LMG crews. They would also be a good weapon for Japanese Cavalry, scouts or vehicle crews.

Once again, another great customized weapon project from you old buddy. I'm sure that the IJA collectors will definitely put this tip to good use! Special thanks for sending it in and sharing it with us. - GL
