With Marines standing watch these armed robberies came to an abrubt stop. the men who guarded the railroad cars and post office trucks in the western U.S were members of the 4th regiment. By Feb.1927 the mail was considered safe, and the 4th Marines were sent to strife torn China. The eastern marines mail guards went to Nicaragua to fight guerrilas in the last of the Banana Wars.
