TROOPS IN ACTION
By: Chris Holloman

HALO

I used a small drill to make a pilot hole so I could place an eye screw into the back of the molded parachute. I attatched about 24" of monofilament line to the eyescrew and at the other end I tied a clamp. The clamp was fastened to the end of a painters pole and I extended it to its 12' length. The pole was angled and wedged in place in the barbwire fence out back. This let me get an upward shot of the Halo figure without having the pole in the frame. The sky that day was full of comm trails so it was perfect.

Afghanistan Night Ops

These night ops shots were done inside using a dark green filter on my 35mm camera. I used a 50mm lense with a large f-stop so the depth of field is very shallow. I think that worked well on the shot that focuses on the weapon.

Excellent work here all around Chris. Very creative idea for getting that great Halo shot. You've got a great pose on him too. Of course, that Night Ops guys is very sharp looking as well. Special thanks for sending both of these in and sharing them with us. -- GL
