The assistant squad leader is armed with a M203 grenade launcher.

The Recon squad is to link up with a US Special forces observation post (OP) that overlooks the river valley at a shallow crossing point.

The OP used to be an old entrance to an Al Queida cave. (Note the Claymore mine, cable and detonator).

The Recon squad stops for a quick break and for the squad leader to verify the squads position utilizing a global positioning system. (GPS).

The squad leader instructs the RTO to try to raise the Special Forces OP in order to let the OP know the Recon squad will be crossing the river and linking up with the OP.
