CUSTOM JAPANESE
By: Graeylin

This is an Imperial Japanese Soldier during the Boxer Rebellion in China, 1900. The Japanese had a small contingent of troops in Peking, guarding the embassies and foreign houses as part of a multi-national force during the crisis.

This trooper sports his IJA uniform, dress blue (the army and navy both wore blue until about 1906, when the army changed to khaki) with white gloves. He has a (handmade by me) Cadet Cap on his head. He carries a Mauser 1896 pistol, as well as a Type 22 Carbine (precursor to the Ariska). The type 22 was chambered for a different cartridge, was shorter (carbine), and had a slightly different stock than the Ariska model 38 or type 99. This gun was made from a TUS Type 99. He wears gaiters in dirty white, and carries his pack and bedroll on his back.
