CUSTOM MODERN RUSSIAN ITEMS
By: FireFox1435

Here's the latest from the attic workshop. The custom PKM 100 round belt box started life as a vintage 1960's GI Joe SOTW Russian ammo box. I chopped out the middle to attain the appropriate scale height, and added all the extra bits with sheet styrene and styrene rod and flat stock. The turned brass rounds and metal link ammo belt is from Realistic Miniatures. Technically it's Nato 7.62x51, but it looks close enough to the Russian 7.62x54 rimmed.

The PKM Russian machine gun is a work in progress, and is originally the FN MAG machine gun from the 21st Century AK weapons set III. So far I've changed out the muzzle brake and sight tower, cut off the gas adjuster and beveled the gas block, switched the belt feed from the left side to the right, cut off the rear of the receiver and added an angled rear cover, and added a sculpted sculpy stock. I still have to add the shoulder stop and stock details, change the carrying handle, switch out the trigger housing and pistol grip, and add a sling.

The figure is making a repeat performance in order to highlight the AKS-74U with BS-1 Tishina grenade launcher, and modified M-22 Tarzan assault vest. The BS-1 is a 30mm muzzle loaded grenade launcher, that utilizes blank pistol cartridges to propel the grenades. The AKS-74U is from 21st Century, and the grenade launcher is a custom repaint that came from a Power Team figure. The vest has been modified to include AK magazine pockets across the front, two to a side. This is how this vest is configured in almost all the photos I have seen of it. I hope you enjoy the photos.

Excellent work my friend, that's a very nice bit of customizing there. You guys always amaze me with your cool weapons customizing work. Special thanks for sending these cool projects in and sharing them with us. I hope to see more of them in the future! - GL
