PERUVIAN DELTA COMPANY
By: Minuteman

I’d like to share these photos of a quick and easy kitbashed Peruvian Delta Company commando. I used a TUS (Vinnie or Rocco?-head sculpt from 101 Pathfinder) wearing TUS woodland camouflage BDUs, a Dragon Eagle Industries black vest, Dragon Lam boots, Dragon Beretta 92F 9mm pistol and holster, Dragon US canteen, 21st flashbang grenade leg pouch, and an Israelli Kevlar helmet I made using polymer clay. His main armament is the Hasbro Mini Uzi 9mm smg. Delta troopers were also equiped with H&K 9mm variants, FN P90s, Galils, H&K PSG-1, and AK-47s.

Introducing Captain Martinez who along with a higher ranking officer, courageously led the assault on the Japanese Embassy in Lima, Peru on April 22, 1997, held by 14 rebels of the Marxist Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement (MRTA). Helicopters passed overhead the embassy to cover the noise of the commandos moving to position, and provide the diversion. During the initial assault of operation Chavin de Huantar, eight terrorists who were playing soccer on the lobby were caught by surprise from the explosion coming from the dugout tunnel directly underneath them. As soon as the blast went off, out emerged the Delta commandos, seeing the bodies of the terrorists lying around them. There were three that survived, including the leader Nestor Cerpa. He and another acomplice rushed up the stairway and grabbed their weapons, while the other one stayed at the base of the staircase. In the following minutes, all of them were shot to death by the troopers. The two terrorists guarding the balcony were immediately disposed off by Delta snipers using H&K PSG-1s.

The other assaulters led by Major Juan Valer, came out from the exploded tunnel at the foot of the winding staircase leading up to the balcony of the master’s bedroom. They rushed to where the hostages were held. Reaching the top, 4 hostages ran pass the Major. Their progress was interupted by a hail of AK-47 fire. Valer threw himself on top of one of the hostage and was hit instead. He died almost instantly. Two Delta pointmen managed to crawl inside the master bedroom and put a stop to the gunman. During another team’s approach to the arsenal room, two female terrorists tossed grenades and fired their AK-47s preventing their advance. Lt. Raul Jimenez was hit by shrapnel on the throat, cutting the jugular vein and ending his life. A demolition team placed explosive charges on the roof of the arsenal room and blew it off. A pair of shooters shot their weapons thru the hole. A huge explosion followed, and both female terrorists were killed. It wasn’t clear if their burst of fire had caused the explosions, or if it was triggered by both the female terrorists.

The operation was a success with only one hostage – a judge killed by a terrorist. The Peruvian Delta Company has suffered 20% casualty and had cost them the lives of two gallant commanders who laid down their lives so that others may live and make the operation - Chavin de Huantar such a success.

Please note: The Delta Company commandos use the olive drab Eagle Industries vest. You can use the Dragon Devgru vest when it comes out. However, present day Delta use the black vest.
