CUSTOM RPK-74
By: Firefox1435

After considering the constructive criticism I received and checking out more reference photos, I turned my attention to making my RPK-47, a 74. As you'll remember from my custom PKM post, the RPK started out as the unpainted resin kit sculpted by Mr. Marcelo Fuentes. I went back and sanded off the brown paint, disassembled and fixed the bi-pod issue, changed the fore grips, added a new muzzle brake, painted and finished, and added a new sling. The front upper gas piston tube fore grip was detailed with a layer of sculpted Tamiya two part putty. The lower fore grip was detailed with strip styrene. While the ribs are not completely accurate in width, the overall visual impact of the lower fore grip is okay. Thanks for all the comments, and impetus to make this right. Of course I couldn't resist throwing in some more photos of the PKM.

It looks fantastic to me old buddy! I've always loved to see the custom 1/6th weapons projects you guys send in. This is a very very nice one. Special thanks for sharing it with all of us. - GL
