This project began with trying to make a figure that resembled Lt. Col. Kilgore ("I love the smell of
napalm in the morning...") from "Apocalypse Now", using the 21st Air Cavalry uniform. Then I felt
I needed some sort of setting for the figure. Trying to find or build a 1/6th scale "Huey" seemed to be out of the question, so I bought one of the "OH-6 Loach" units.
I really felt that the 'copter needed some modifications, so I decided to add the M134 minigun. I significantly modified the mount that came with the gun and scratch-built the gun control box, supports, cables, etc. I tore the 'copter apart and did modifications to the interior, including painting details and tinting the overhead windows. I puttied and painted the screw holes in the fuselage and finished the cabin floor. |
