Sideshow Zartan VSS Vintorez Repaint
By: Firefox 1435

Here's some eye candy I hope the gang can enjoy. The new Zartan figure from Sideshow Collectibles comes with a nicely sculpted modern Russian VSS Vintorez suppressed sniper rifle. However, the paint job and sling leave quite a bit to be desired. Well, here's my first repaint of the VSS from Zartan. As I have this rifle set up for short distance CQB type sniping with the Kobra red dot, I decided to eliminate the check rest. The metal bits were finished with flat black, a heavy dry brush of Model Master Gun Metal, a light dry brush of Model Master Steel, then I rubbed powdered pencil graphite into the surface, and sealed it with dull coat. The stock had the cheek rest, and check rest nuts removed, and all the seams cut off and sanded smooth. Then a base of Cinnamon acrylic craft paint, then streaked with Burnt Umber, and Dark Sienna washes. This was sealed with a gloss coat to simulate the commonly used stock varnish. I made a new sling swivel and plate for the stock, and a new vertical sling d-ring on the front of the receiver. A big shout out to Rich (I hope you're feeling better man!) for all the info. on the wood grain painting process.

Wow, superior paint job in my opinion on that Zartan rifle old buddy, very sharp looking! Special thanks for sending this cool project in and sharing it with us. - GL
