M1 TANK UPDATE
By: Dewback Matt

Just giving an update on the M1 treads I have to create... OH BOY!!
First I had my great friend Joe help me out with some pine wood and a chance to cut and route the correct sizes and round overs on the strips of wood. I still need to get a couple more created for the middle binder that goes in between the tracks and has the tread guard sticking up in the middle. I then cut the lengths into the sort blocks and lengths needed to create the over all length of the ONE tread. This included gluing round dowels and a block of stock together and then cutting them to a small width, and then capped off by a piece of tread wood that is 1/8" thick to cap it... a big labor of love here as I do not know how many I have cut but probably not enough to fill the number I need. I have color coded the wood to show the troops the parts I need to cut and glue together, and then one bolt goes on each one- I will need to find more of these.... OH BOY!!! ($$)
The final part is a piece of foam on the bottom to create the rubber tread part.

Interesting stuff old buddy! I can't wait to see how that all comes together. Special thanks for sending these shots in and letting us have a peek at this! - GL
