I acquired a "Fire Chief" Gasoline pump from a neighboring town by trading some much needed personal items with them. I also let them know that they were welcome in my town, at anytime. My troops couldn't wait to juice-up their vehicles at the new Petrol pump. The first customer was the big boy, the M-5. Then came all of the jeeps... Another Officer, a Lieutenant, straggled into Marwencol last week, saying how he was separated from his unit, after they sent him around the country side, looking for a left-handed smoke shifter, and then they broke camp and took off on him ! Well anyway sir, the Lieutenant was in charge of the distribution of the fuel, and he put everyone on a time-limit. The Lieutenant allowed 5 minutes for each of my troops to fill as many vehicles and gas cans as they could. It worked out perfect and the new Major was "OK" with it. |
