John went over to the two German prisoners and asked "Do you know who did this?" There was no answer, so John fired his rifle into the stomach of one of the prisoners, killing him.
Quennel was beside herself because she had done that all she could have done to save Gil, but had no luck. He was just too weak. We had been interrogating the other prisoner and were finally beginning to make him give us information. Louis the French medic came over and broke the news of Gils passing to us. John went to spend some time with Gil's lifeless body and when he came back to where we were all at, he had changed. He broke the news to us that Gil was his brother and now he had lost all that he had left in this war. He turned to the other prisoner and fired the Thompson. |
