Things are getting too crowded in the basement, so I am forced to make a decision between Modern or Nam era. Modern won out, so before I cannibalize too many more figures, here are a few of them from my earlier, lurker days. |
This is a Vintage Hasbro body with a Cotswold head and bush hat, DML flame gun and BBI scarf. I had to take these pictures inside, it is still too cold to venture outside for a photo shoot. |
I draped a towel across his arm to stave off some of the heat. Some of the pictures that I have seen show an additional towel, with eye holes cut in it, draped over the flame gunner's head. |
Next is a LRRP Ranger. He is made from a mixture of 1st and 2nd generation Nam items, WWII, and even some Modern. I replaced his XM 177 with one from DML. |

Next is a series of photos inspired by a book that I got for Christmas a few years ago. If you are into Nam, "SOG A Photo History of the Secret Wars" by John Plaster, is a must have.
I combined DML rifle with a BAR ammo pouch painted OD green, cut a claymore mine bag in half and attached it to a piece of OD elastic to drape around the neck. I found some TUS WWII pouches and painted them green, using them as 1st aid pouches. I found a piece of wire at the local LOWES store, cut it to the desired length and wrapped it with a smaller gauge wire to simulate washers. This made a piece of det cord, covered in washers, for a field expedient hasty ambush, which would be detonated with a claymore clacker. |
Combined with one of my favorite Hasbro heads, this is easily my favorite Nam figure. The subtitle to this picture reads "Explosive laden SOG one-zero". I soaked the hat in water, shaped it and sprayed it with hair spray, then blow dried the hat. |
