My friend Fon Davis ( and movie effects wizard) has a simple video about vacuum forming and it inspired me to get my
crap together and do it. I created this little former in about 2 hours and used it this morning with great success for the
BTR hubcaps. I formed all 8 from a "buck" that I made and had a few failures but then got it right and went to town from
there.
This is such a fun way to make things and in multiple numbers. These were off of a "buck" or solid object and then heated plastic up and then "sucked" down around the item. once it is cooled down-POP out comes the buck. My buck was made of cardboard and some little wood pieces so it does not have to be such a solid item but cannot be able to collapse either. Well on my way to finishing this beast! Just waiting for funding for the other tires! |
