COMSERVRON-4 COMES TO MARWENCOL
By: Hogie309

The Wing Commander of COMSERVRON- 4 (Command Service Squadron- 4), of the 303 Fighter Wing out of Hawaii, landed his custom-made, super-charged 3,900 hp, 18 valve Rolls-Royce\Merlin P-51 Mustang, on the Belgian make-shift airstrip, in Eddyville. The Wing Commander (who preferred to be called GL), came to Belgium from Hawaii, to see for himself, what my town Marwencol, was all about. Being from Hawaii, the GL had never seen snow before, so this trip to Belgium and Marwencol, must have been a treat for him :)

I sent Sgt. Howard and Maj. Keene (who preferred to be called IrishSEAL) out into the middle of a snow storm, to pick up GL from the Eddyville Airstrip. It stopped snowing, when GL's Jeep was about five miles away from town, as I sat nervously waiting for the sound of the Jeep pulling into my town's Main street. I had a few of the Russian Females with me, and of course, what would a visit from the Commander and Chief of an 80 or so members in his Squad be, if I didn't have it on film :)

GL's Jeep pulled up to my troops and I, and right away I thought, Gregory Peck, from the movie, "Twelve O'Clock High". We saluted one another, then we shook hands, and then we heard a shot ring out ! Seems that, when GL and I were shaking hands, some German who thought he was a Sniper, tried to assassinate me, or GL, or the both of us (little did that Kraut know, that we can't die :). A Leftenant Richard Jones, a British Commando, happened to be walking around the town, and then he put the would-be assassin out of it's misery...

Respectfully Yours, Cpt. Hogancamp,AVG.
