BREAKTHROUGH INTO GERMANY
By: Bean

April 2, 1945

Members of the 150th Combat Engineers battalion work to complete a small 30-foot bridge over a dry riverbed in a wooded area outside of Cologne. With most of the heavy work completed, we join them during their third day of construction. This is one of their first projects, on the way to the Rhine for these new recruits trained at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. This bridge will soon help make the supply routes from Antwerp more efficient.

Day 3:

Final measurements are checked.

Support braces are installed.

One soldier receives orders from HQ.
