WWII MARINES

Makin Island Marine Raider

I had read an account of the Makin Island raid in 1942, that some Marines had sprayed black paint on their uniforms to help break up their shape and form. It was stated that by doing so, it may of been the first use of a camoflauge unifrom by the U.S. This is what a Marine Raider may of looked like as he waited to climb the ladder topside out of the USS Argonaut, after the long, cramped trip to Makin.
