| This is a division of the LAPD which has been loosely modeled after the NYPD ESU. These officers are highly trained to do rescue work, take care of tactical situations much like SWAT, and any other police duty job. They have training in paramedics, and rope rescue as well as any waterborne rescue scenarios. They always travel in pairs and, depending on the callout, may travel in teams of 16 in 4 of these HMMWVs. Typically though, they patrol the moutainous regions in Los Angeles County and have been known to assist in search and rescue work as far North as Mt Ranier in Washington state and Southeast as Tempe, Az and east as Boulder, Co. |
