This is me in December of 2017, in my leather and shearling high altitude bomber pants and jacket, reproductions made in NY State, and the leather pilot's helmet and goggles are vintage 1943 :)
The leather helmet I purchased from a military antiques place online, and there's a story behind the helmet. . . The guy was a pilot and Lt. Beall was in the U.S. Navy, who flew PBY's and Liberators in the Pacific theatre. He was issued two of these flying helmets, in which one of them he used, and the one I'm wearing he folded up and stored it away ; and it was passed down to his son. The son put it up for sale, hoping that it would fall into good hands ; and it did :) It is Museum quality, and it's soft and in mint condition, and I wear it a lot in this winter that we're going through, because this thing is warm ! Along with the bomber outfit that I wear with the leather flying helmet, I look and feel as though I've just stepped through time, and I love that feeling :) . . . |
| Wow! Another great bunch of photos, Hogie. So many cool figures in this one, I don't even know where to begin :) Of course, the bonus shots of you in the Bomber gear are just too cool.
