NEW YORK FIREFIGHTER
By: Hank The Grunt

This is basically the 21st C Urban Firefighter less Air Pack & Mask.
Turnout -
I added four snap hook closures like those found on the 21st C Fireman (Yellow Turnout). Then I added printed out patches to the coat.

Helmet -
I painted the helmet with black acrylic paint then used yellow vinyl tape for the reflectors. I wrapped it with aI1/4 inch black elastic and used some Popsicle sticks to make the wedges. I used some clear plastic from some carded package to make to spray shields up front. I also added a leather band made from a leather shoelace to the inside of the helmet for it to sit right on the head.

Gloves -
Now here was the hard part to do. Nobody makes 1/6th gloves for figures or at least good leather gloves. What I did, I used a real leather glove, cut, molded, glued and painted to a pair of 21st C hands.

Air filter mask -
Is just that, I use the material from a real one and made it 1/6th scale.

Overall look -
I wanted the ashen look. My fireplace was clean so I couldn't use the soot from it. I went to the next best thing, the BBQ pit. I just used a dry brush and rubbed it on. -- Hank The Grunt
