Here are the first pics of my Higgins Boat. I used the 1/35th scale
model kit and blueprints for reference, as well as numerous books
and periodicals.
It is 1/6th scale, made entirely of wood, particle board, 2x4 and 2x2. The first one is almost ready, I just need to work on the winch, turrets and then it will be send to Lanny for drybrushing and more detail. As you can see I am already working on 2 more boats, and have plans to make a USMC and British Armored version. Each boat is the correct 6' long and approx 1 1/2 ' wide and the weight, well let's just say it takes two to lift this bad boy. This project is 2 years from conception to the point where I am with it now. |
