NORMAN VIKING, CIRCA AD 1000
By: Graeylin

I started with the 21C SAR figure, and added the Belt from a TUS Russian, and the knife from the Air Cav pilot. The linen shift is exactly that... handmade of linen. The pants are TUS, bleached and colored from a standard German Trouser.

The chain mail is from a butcher's glove, as is the coif for his head. The spear tips are hand made from lead solder, and the shield is a leather disc with a WWI doughboy helmet in the center for the embossed section. The boots, you must forgive me, are from the Pink aisle, with added strapping of latigo...

Danish and Swedish vikings settled in England in the 9th century, and thrived there for years. They eventually attacked France, and to prevent a long and costly war, the king of France ceded land to the invaders, land given to the North Men... Normen... This land, to the north of France's coast, is now Normandy. VIkings in Normandy later returned to England, bearing arms, and sacked southern England... often fighting direct descendents of their own forefathers who remained in England.

Wow! Outstanding project here Graeylin. Ol' GL is a Viking Mythos fan from way back, so this figure has to rank up there with my favorites on the site. You've done an absolutely terrific job on it. You amaze me with each new project my friend. Keep it up :) Special thanks for sending this sharp looking Viking in and sharing him with us. - GL
