While the Confederates raided, they stopped at local farms and took food like breads, cakes, pies & hams with them, making sandwiches as they rode. The Federals in overwhelming numbers, constantly on their heels.
N.B. Forrest would often times do his own scouting of the enemy's location and strength, sometimes being spotted by Billy Yank. Forrest had 29 horses shot out from under him and was wounded several times. |
