CUSTOM SPETSNAZ
By: Minuteman

I’d like to share with you this current project of a Russian Spetsnaz trooper. He is a member of the Kretchet (Falcon) Spetsnaz unit. I used a TUS German Grenadier with a Shark Lanard head. Lt. Comrade Vladimir is armed with a variety of weapons. One is a TUS AK-74 rifle with see-thru red dot sight, an AK-47 7.62mmx39 rifle with spike bayonet, an RPK light machinegun courtesy of Pumpkinking44 with my added 75 rnd. drum magazine & bi-pod, a Bizon 9X18 submachinegun, and a 9mmx18 Makarov pistol with holster. I replaced the bayonet blade of the TUS with one that I made using epoxy putty, and vinyl sheath with wire cutter. He has on a special helmet, vest with functional pouches and recent camo uniform. This soldier had seen action in Afghanistan as a fledgling commando of the OMON (Ministry of Interior), and had fought in the break-away-region of Chechnya, specifically the capital of Grozny in which the Russians suffered many losses due to poor planning/ command in 1994 to early 1995.

He fought in built up areas with no appropriate ground and air support, and along side less experienced regiments. They were lacking essential supplies such as provisions and ammunitions as well. The result - amateur hour for the Ruskies. Late January, small groups of Spetsnaz units were assigned to mop up Chechen strongpoints, among them was this soldier. The Battle for Grozny ended on February 13 with the signing of a peace treaty by Gen. Anatoli Kulikov of the Russian Forces and Gen. Aslan Mashkadov (Chechen Chief of Staff). But wether peace is restored or not, the conflict is one of the longest and costliest battles fought in a large city since the end of WWII. Lt. Comrade Vladimir won the coveted red beret which identifies him as the BEST "of The BEST". Keeping the red beret is harder than winning it, with qualifications held every year. Recently, Lt. Vladimir joined the Kretchet (Falcon) unit which is under the Interior of Justice, leaving the OMON. On his beret is a symbol of the falcon and a unit badge. Current mission are anti-terrorism, peacekeeping, rescue operations, and tracking and uprehending fugitives.

I included reference photos from SOF magazines and Combat and Survival book, along with these pics My thanks to Pumkinking44 (for RPK).
