THE FIRE MISSION By: Groundpounder & Buzz

After retracing their steps to a safe distance, Top Hallagan decides a fire mission would be best. They are just a little south of Fire Base Shadow. He orders Mcquire to get on the horn to Shadow and order an artillery strike on the unsuspecting Viet Cong. The RTO does as ordered and gives Captain Evans the grids and numbers.

Back at Firebase Shadow, they get the call from Twister Charlie for firesupport. Captain Evans gets the call and his radio telegraph operator relays the info to the mortar and howitzer crews.

The Mortar crew lets go the first rounds!

The Howitzer crew is up and ready to let go some 105 MM rounds.

The crew finishes giving the coordinates to Shadow and sits back and waits for the rounds to fly overhead.

Meanwhile the unsuspecting VC are preparing a little rice for dinner.

All hell breaks loose as the rounds begin to explode on impact.
