I was up and couldn't sleep so I worked on the drivers hatch for the M1 and I like how it turned out.
I don't know if you guys know how much super glue LOVES CB (cardboard) It sure does make it an instant hard material that can be sanded smooth afterwards and is pretty solid and light weight. I use thin CB usually and it soaks in well, then can be sanded smooth, and sometimes needs a re-coat of glue but the results are great and strong.
Here are a couple of pics of the hatch ( blue tape is covering chrome tape for a paint job. I have included a pic of the smoke grenade box and a B-17 in 1/18th scale which has been sitting around for many years waiting to be finished. Some day... |
