CUSTOM TROOPS
By: Graeylin

This is a "fantasy" piece i put together one night, just playing. This is an SAS trooper (That's SCOTTISH Air Services). I know the kilt wouldn't be terribly practical in a real assault, but I think he looks darn tough. It isn't every face mold that can carry this off, but I think this guy looks good!

This is the equivalent of a Lance corporal, or Corporal First Class in the Japanese army. The uniform is the standard issue from 1932 to 1939, replaced only by their lighter weight "Jungle" attire that was common during the war. This would be their field dress uniform, complete with riding boots, Ariska rifle, Nambu pistol, and Katana.

This is a prototype picture of my next two projects: A Japanese Tank Crewman and a Lewis AA machine gun. The Japanese used Lewis MG's well into the war for Anti-Aircraft defense. These projects still need to be finished: weathering on the Lewis, more details on the actions, etc., and more work on the crewman.

This is a Japanese Artillery Engineer.. part of a group of engineer support that a field artillery battalion would have. He carries phone cable in a chest belay rig, as well as semaphore flags for signalling. The cable would be stretched between the artillery group, their command/firing HQ, and forward observers. The Japanese relied far more on solid phone communication than radio in their defense installations. Their radios were typically sub standard, complicated to operate, unreliable, and prone to failure.

The chest/cable rig is home-made, from pictures and drawings of actual rigs used in WWII.
