NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE MARINE CORP
By: Pistol Pete

These are from the Korean War exhibits. I wish I had taken more snaps. These dios were really impressive! A Marine tank rumbles across a ruined North Korean cityscape, a Marine forward observer team on a snow-covered hillside calls in an artillery strike, a MG team leaps from a helicopter. Very stirring stuff!

The last image is of me and my good friend Chris Sacash. As cool as it was to finally see the USMC Museum, it wasn't half as cool as finally meeting ol' Chris, and sharing a beer with him! Chris even brought along two of his 1:6 scale WW2 landing craft. You should have seen how big those suckers were!

Here are some from the Vietnam War exhibits. Again, I wish I had taken more pictures! So much to see! My favorite was the huge fire base diorama-- you entered it by walking though a Marine cargo aircraft! And the Ontos tracked anti-tank vehicle was pretty cool with six 106mm recoiless rifles attached. The NVA didn't have many tanks, so they were employed as fire support against infantry targets. During the fight for Hue City, they were used to punch holes through walls. Once a couple of rounds went through the building, the enemy usually took off out the back door!
