HOW TO MODIFY TUS CANTEENS FOR IMPERIAL JAPANESE ARMY TROOPS

Here is the TUS Japanese Army canteen, pretty good for a molded canteen but I want to replace the molded on webbing with cloth. I don't like elastic either.

You can pull off the elastic strap.

Use a sharp knife to slice off the molded on webbing

Keep cutting

cut some more

I prefer 3/32" webbing colored green in this case. cut a piece of webbing and glue on as shown.

Glue on two more pieces of webbing. One should be 10 inches long the other about 1-3/8 inches long. ( Note: you may want to make the long strap a little longer, I like to shorten figures and a larger figure might require a longer strap.)

Glue on another piece of webbing. Wrap this one around and put it on top of the two you just glued on. Put the ends on one side so that they will be covered when you fold the side straps over.
