NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE MARINE CORP
By: Pistol Pete

These photos were all taken at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, VA

This first batch is of a 1:1 scale diorama of the 2nd Marine Division assault at Tarawa. It's the first thing you see as you walk into the main lobby. It is massive-- and complete with beach, palm tree sea wall, and LVT!

A few more shots from the National Museum of the Marine Corps. These were from the WW1 exhibits-- all the dioramas are 1:1 scale. The German machine gun nest was especially impressive. The whole room resembles are forest, and you are looking out into an open field. The field is actually a projection of a movie, in which American Marines are advancing against the German MGs in the woods. It was very realistic!
